NDW respectfully acknowledges the island of Ktaqmkuk (colonially known as Newfoundland) as the unceded, traditional territory of the Beothuk and the Mi'kmaq. And we acknowledge Labrador as the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Innu of Nitassinan, the Inuit of Nunatsiavut, and the Inuit of NunatuKavut.

We're advocating for a Community Dance Facility in St John's, NL
Neighbourhood Dance Works (NDW), founded in 1981, is Newfoundland and Labrador’s leading presenter of dance. NDW presents and promotes original, diverse dance works while fostering a vibrant, inclusive dance community and connecting local, Atlantic, and national networks.
NDW’s flagship event is the Festival of New Dance, held annually each fall (September 23–26, 2026), featuring 50–70 local, national, and sometimes international artists through mainstage and offsite / site-specific performances. While the historic LSPU Hall is NDW’s primary venue, recent Festivals have also partnered with The Rooms, the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre, the Majestic Theatre, and the City of St. John’s.
NDW supports artistic growth through initiatives such as the Roberta Thomas Legacy Award, Artistic Residencies, and Vertical Dance Week, and is planning future strategic development to strengthen creation and collaboration in Atlantic Canada as well as Newfoundland and Labrador’s dance sector.
