Mile Zero Dance acknowledges Treaty Six’s Intent Of Friendship And Kinship with the Indigenous Peoples who have been gathering here along the North Saskatchewan River for thousands of years: Nêhiyaw , Nakota Isga, Nakota Sioux, Niitsitapi , Dene, Saulteaux, Anishinaabe, and Métis’, and many more Indigenous People continuing to live here today. We strive to create an open space for all, upholding the traditional Cree meaning of Tatawaw, “Welcome, There Is Room”. We are all Treaty people.

Mile Zero Dance (MZD) is a mid-sized organization based in Edmonton, Alberta with wide-ranging contemporary dance programming and an interdisciplinary performing arts focus. Serving a community of dance and art lovers, students, enthusiasts, and pre-professional and professional level dancers, MZD hosts workshops (Mari Osanai, Hideo Arai, PAIR Dance, Tedi Tafel, Linda Rabin, Mariko Tanabe, Andrew Harwood, Martin Keogh, Maxine Heppner), live performance (such as Grand Poney, MayDay Danse, Plastic Orchid Factory, Pamela Tzeng, Lebo Disele, Ivo Dimchev), in-house performances and site-specific work, artists in residence who create in our studio for up to one month each, and artists who teach in the local school system. MZD is interested in active community outreach, professional programming, and cross-disciplinary work. Please contact MZD well in advance with inquiries and proposals.
