Live Art Dance works in Kjipuktuk, on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. We are grateful to be on this land, and have deep respect for those who have been its caretakers for millennia. We are committed to working to understand and live by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship which govern this land - treaties that recognized Mi’kmaq title and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
We also acknowledge the cultural, historic, and artistic contributions of the African Nova Scotian communities who have been here for over 400 years, and whose labour and presence has been critical to the infrastructure of the city in which we work.

Live Art Dance has been a central presenter of contemporary dance in Eastern Canada for four decades, and anchors Kjipuktuk/Halifax’s pivotal presence on the national dance map. We deliver an annual contemporary dance series featuring diverse works from local, national, and international dance artists. Our deep desire is to be a catalyst and leader in stimulating a healthy, sustainable, and vibrant dance ecology in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, the Atlantic region, and beyond.
