The Vernon and District Performing Art Centre would like to acknowledge that we all live work and play in the Northern part of the unceeded Okanagan Sylix Territory and many of the descendants of the Suqnaquinx people still live here today.

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society is a not-for-profit organization devoted to fostering live entertainment in all its forms, and providing North Okanagan residents access to premium and diverse entertainment. The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre is a 750 seat theatre situated within the City of Vernon and the Society annually presents a series of over 25 shows to complement existing rentals.

As a multidisciplinary presenter, our annual series includes five dance shows which highlight classical, contemporary and folk styles. Whenever possible, the Society offers post-show talk backs, master classes and other outreach activities that are tailored to each dance engagement. We also host technical and community residencies on a case-by-case basis. The society presents large and small scale performances from regional, national and international dance companies; our season runs from October to May.

Built in 2001, the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre boasts well-appointed backstage areas and one of the most comfortable auditoriums in British Columbia. The mainstage is a 750 seat proscenium theatre with a fly tower. The stage is 43’x 34’8” with a 12’8” apron and generous wing space. In-house equipment includes a dance floor (one side black and one side white), dance barres and a Meyer Mina digital sound system installed in 2013. A 31’ x 40’ flexible ‘black box’ space with a sprung floor is available and often used for master classes.
